Oil on canvas
Three works, each 20 x 30 cm (7.9 x 11.8 inches)
Framed
In this dynamic three-part composition, Studio 198 explores gesture, tension, and the physicality of paint, drawing influence from the expressive language of Willem de Kooning.
Executed in oil on canvas, each panel operates as an independent study in movement while forming a cohesive dialogue when viewed together. Viscous layers of paint are pushed, pulled, and reworked across the surface, creating a sense of continual transformation. Colour fields collide — saturated yellows, deep blues, and heated reds — generating both harmony and disruption.
The brushwork is immediate yet controlled. Marks are not simply applied but negotiated, revealing a process of revision and persistence. Areas of density contrast with moments of openness, allowing the compositions to breathe while retaining their energetic core.
As a triptych, the work introduces rhythm across space. Each panel offers variation in gesture and balance, encouraging the eye to move between them, tracing both connection and difference. The result is a unified yet restless composition — one that resists stillness.
At 20 x 30 cm (7.9 x 11.8 inches) per panel, the scale invites close engagement. The viewer is drawn into the surface, where the texture and direction of each stroke become increasingly apparent.
Presented framed, the works maintain a refined gallery presence while preserving the raw immediacy of the painted gesture.
This is a one-off original set.
